What Bhava Means in Your Chart
Bhava (भाव) means "house" — the twelve divisions of your birth chart, each governing a specific area of life. Unlike a Rashi, which is a fixed 30-degree arc of the sky, a Bhava is calculated from your Lagna (ascendant) and shifts with your birth time. Planets inside a Bhava activate its themes. The Bhava's lord — the planet ruling the sign on its cusp — carries that house's energy wherever it sits.

How to Judge a Bhava
For any Bhava, examine three things: planets occupying it, the Bhava lord's placement, and aspects (Drishti) falling on it. A Bhava with its lord strong and well-placed thrives. A Bhava whose lord sits in the 6th, 8th, or 12th from it weakens. Kendra Bhavas (1,4,7,10) are strongest for material results; Trikona Bhavas (1,5,9) carry the most auspicious karma.
