What Drishti Means in Your Chart
Drishti (दृष्टि) means "sight" or "aspect" — a planet's ability to influence houses and planets across the chart without physical proximity. In Vedic astrology, every planet aspects the 7th house from its position (full aspect). Three planets have special additional aspects. A benefic Drishti on a house protects and strengthens it; a malefic Drishti disturbs and damages. Aspects are one of the three primary factors — along with conjunction and house placement — in chart reading.
Planetary Aspects in Vedic Astrology

| Mars (Mangal) | 4th, 7th, 8th |
| Jupiter (Guru) | 5th, 7th, 9th |
| Saturn (Shani) | 3rd, 7th, 10th |
| Rahu/Ketu | 5th, 7th, 9th (in many schools) |
Reading Drishti in Practice
For any house you want to judge, count which planets aspect it and from where. Jupiter's 5th or 9th aspect on the Lagna or Moon is highly protective. Saturn's 3rd or 10th aspect on a planet disciplines and delays it. Mars's 8th aspect is aggressive — it triggers conflict and accidents for the house it hits. Always check aspects before concluding a house is weak — a strong Drishti from Jupiter or Venus can rescue an otherwise troubled position.
