What Dhana Yoga Means
Dhana Yoga (धन योग) is any planetary combination that generates significant wealth accumulation. In Jyotish, wealth flows through the 2nd house (accumulated wealth), 5th house (speculative gains, intelligence), 9th house (fortune), and 11th house (income). When lords of these houses connect with the Lagna lord or each other through conjunction, aspect, or exchange, Dhana Yoga forms. The yoga is a promise — the Dasha of the yoga lords is when it delivers.
Common Dhana Yoga Combinations
| Combination | Type |
|---|---|
| 2nd lord + Lagna lord conjunct | Wealth from self-effort |
| 9th lord + 11th lord conjunct | Fortunate income |
| 5th lord in 2nd or 11th | Gains from intellect/investments |
| Jupiter in 2nd or 11th | Natural wealth indicator |
| 2nd and 11th lords exchange | Parivartana Dhana Yoga |
Reading Dhana Yoga in Practice
Count Dhana Yogas carefully — having three or more involving strong planets indicates genuine wealth potential. But strength of the yoga lords matters more than quantity. A single strong Dhana Yoga with exalted or Swakshetra planets outperforms five weak ones. The yoga activates during the Dasha of its participating planets. Also examine D-2 (Hora chart) to confirm — wealth themes must appear in the divisional chart to be reliable.
