What Prashna Astrology Is
Prashna (प्रश्न) means "question" — horary astrology in the Vedic tradition. A chart is cast for the moment a sincere question is asked, and the planetary positions at that moment answer the question. Prashna is used when the birth time is unknown, when a quick answer is needed, or to cross-verify natal chart predictions. The querent's sincerity matters: Prashna works best when the question arises from genuine concern.

How Prashna Works in Practice
Record the exact date, time, and place when the question is asked. Cast the chart for that moment. The Lagna represents the querent; the relevant house represents the subject of the query (7th for relationships, 10th for career, etc.). The lord of that house and planets therein reveal the answer. If the relevant house lord is strong and well-placed, the outcome is favorable; weak or afflicted, unfavorable. The Moon's applying aspects show the course of events.
