What Kemadruma Yoga Means
Kemadruma Yoga forms when the Moon has no planets in the 2nd or 12th house from it (excluding Rahu and Ketu), and no planet aspects the Moon. It is considered a challenging yoga indicating isolation, emotional difficulties, and potential material struggles. The Moon, representing the mind, becomes unsupported and vulnerable. However, many conditions can cancel Kemadruma — and even without cancellation, it rarely destroys a chart singlehandedly.
Kemadruma Cancellation Conditions
| Cancellation | Result |
|---|---|
| Moon in Kendra from Lagna | Kemadruma cancelled |
| Moon in Kendra from Sun | Kemadruma weakened |
| Planet in Kendra from Moon | Kemadruma cancelled |
| Full Moon (Purnima) | Significant weakening |
| Strong Lagna lord | Compensates for Kemadruma |
Reading Kemadruma in Practice
Before declaring Kemadruma, verify no planet (except Rahu/Ketu) is in the 2nd and 12th from Moon AND no planet aspects the Moon. Many charts that appear to have Kemadruma are saved by cancellation. Also note: the Rahu/Ketu axis is excluded from consideration. A Kemadruma that survives all cancellation checks still needs to activate through Moon's Dasha (Chandra Dasha) or Moon-ruled Antardasha to deliver its full challenges.
